Artistic styles unit 78 kurt bremner
There are many different styles
in which we make games and many games designers will combine styles for more
effect and to make it look unique.
Photo realistic games
A large amount of games are
made in this style including some of the more recent and popular games. Games
like call of duty and the batman series.
Photo realistic means that they are trying to make the game look as real
as possible. There are many obstacles what games developers face in making
photo realistic games such as is make fully destructible building/objects. Your
computer will have to be extremely powerful to accomplish this. However with
the unreal engine 4 and the cryengine may be able to accomplish sooner
hopefully
Exaggerated artistic design
Exaggerated games are like
cartoony anime style games. A recent example of an exaggerated game is dragon
ball xenoverse a common trait in the characters in an exaggerated game style is
that they have large eyes like in an anime. Another trait is that they use
bright and vibrant colours to make them stand out. A large amount of these kind
of games are on the Nintendo wii and DS. A good example of these games are the
Naruto ninja storm series, final fantasy and devil may cry.
Cel shading
Games which were created in
this style often look like they have straight of a comic book. They often have
bring colours. Also gameplay is normally is like a comic book. A good example
of game with this artistic style is the amazing Spiderman I believe this game
makes you feel like you are in a comic book.
Pixelated artistic style
Although some of
these games look extremely simple there are a huge amount of games which are
made like this and they are really successful. Terraria is one of those games. I’m
not sure if mine craft is though. However it is definitely a cross category
with a pixelated game.
